Tharman Shanmugaratnam is a Singaporean politician and economist who has been serving as the ninth President of Singapore since 2023. Prior to his presidency, he held various key positions in the Singaporean government, including Senior Minister, Chairman of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and Deputy Prime Minister. Tharman has been a member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP) and has represented the Jurong Group Representation Constituency (GRC) in Parliament since 2001.
